Job Summary
- WE are seeking an experienced CAD Engineer with 8+ years of professional experience, including a minimum of 5 years in a similar engineering role, preferably within the heavy lifting, handling, or large-object mechanical systems domain. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in 3D SolidWorks across both mechanical and structural engineering disciplines, with proven capability in developing detailed product designs, engineering concepts, and fabrication/shop drawings for mechanical steel structures.
- The role requires hands-on experience in creating technically accurate drawings and models while working within defined planning schedules and project deadlines. Candidates should have a solid understanding of engineering standards and codes, along with the ability to apply them effectively within product and structural design activities. Strong proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings, datasheets, and engineering documentation is essential. The successful candidate should also have a good understanding of internal engineering processes and procedures, combined with a structured and detail-oriented approach to design execution, coordination, and technical documentation in project-driven environments.
What Will You Do?
- As a CAD Engineer at TILLEN, you will be a part of the Design Department, working closely with your colleagues to achieve the best possible outcomes. The CAD and Design department is responsible for designing and drawing up custom-made solutions for clients, in line with the vision and design strategy of Tillen. The department employs Engineers with competences. There are approximately 7 employees working within the CAD and Design department.

Roles and responsibilities:
The CAD-engineer is responsible to draw out product designs, concepts or shop drawings. Upgrades 3D basic design models into detailed design models in liaison with the design engineer.
Analyses, initiates and coordinates product adjustments with the lead engineer. Has contact with his own team and other team members. Reports to the Team lead Design.
- Drafting /modelling:
- Upgrades the 3D models into Detailed designs based on requirements and/or specifications.
- Draws designs into (shop) drawings based on requirements and/or specifications.
- Reconciles technical issues and discuss them with project team members.
- Escalates deviations from what has been sold or specified to the Lead engineer.
- Oversees and adjusts his own planning in consultation with the project owner and/or team leader. Specifies purchase parts.
- Tracks and oversees his own hours and budgets for deliverables and escalates exceedances.
- Optimalisation:
- Looks for opportunities and new technologies within his own field.
- Advises on optimisations and developments within his own field.
- Support and information:
- Supports internal departments (e.g. Sales and Purchasing) with concept and tender drawings supports with technical issues and/or bottlenecks.
- Prepares project documents as manuals and instructions.
- Continuous improvement:
- Continuously focused on identifying opportunities for improvement in the process.
- Translates the identified bottlenecks into initiatives aimed at optimising one's own work and the work procedures to be followed in the department.
- Knowledge:
- Knowledge of Standards and codes in the design of products and how to apply them.
- Keeping up with the latest production methods and CAD skills is what helps you grow into your role
